The following are some other applications
of Connotative Intelligence technology:Connotative
Image Database
A Connotative Image Database
will provide
emotional profiles of photographs, visual art, and other images. The user
will pre-select the
desired emotional impact. The database engine will then retrieve images that match the emotional
specifications. The database will also supply image connonyms, and
will match these with word and
sound connonyms. As well, images will be identifiable by emotional profile appeal according to
demographic characteristics such as gender and age group.

Connotative Internet Scanning
A strategic partnership or licensing
arrangement between Connotative Intelligence Corporation and a major search
provider would be necessary to implement Connotative Internet Scanning.
A connotative filter would scan databases for material on any subject chosen by the
userbook and movie reviews, business and world news, personal ads, etc. It would
summarize and present the user with the emotional responses to that material. For example, a
search engine enhanced with Connotative Intelligence Technology would summarize emotional
reactions to a movie and recommend other movies that have generated similar emotional
responses or feelingsincluding movies with completely different subject matter from
each other.

Connotative
Dating and Match-making Services
Computer dating and match-making services
are big business. A connotative dating service would be Web-based.
In addition to the usual demographic data,
a customer would submit a list of perhaps 10 or 20 words describing things or concepts
that are important, positive, and interesting in his or her life (such as duck
hunting, computers, accordion music, bull whips, Portugal, etc.) Each item would be
linked to 10 or 20 close connonyms, creating a customized database of several hundred
words or phrases associated with the customer. The computer would then search through
other customers' databases, looking for those having large numbers of connonym matches.

Connotative Gift Finder
A Web-based Connotative Gift Finder would
enable the gift-giver to identify gifts that are likely to appeal to the recipient through
association with the emotional profile of the recipient.
The user of the Connotative Gift Finder
would have his or her intended recipient write down a list of his or her favorite
things things he or she has a positive emotional attachment to. At gift-giving time,
(birthday, Christmas, graduation, wedding), the user would surf to the Connotative Gift
Finder Web site. The user would register for a small fee and then respond to a series of
questions about the intended recipient, including a list of the intended recipient's
favorite things. The Connotative Gift Finder would respond by providing the user a list of
giftsessentially a list of connonyms (see Emotional Thesaurus).

Connotative Board Games and Web-based Games
Connotative Games would parallel the
denotative versions of numerous word-based board games, such as Trivial Pursuit.
As well, new board games (and computer and on-line versions) will be developed that take
advantage of new connotative content, such as "connonyms" and "He Meant/She
Meant" connotative differences.
Unlike synonyms, there is no logic to
connonyms. Games incorporating connonyms would likely favor a person having an emotional
or intuitive nature over a logical thinker.

Tools to Evaluate the Persuasiveness of
Text or Media Messages
Whether people tend to believe the basic
message within text is highly influenced by the emotional response it engenders. A special
version of the Connotation Checker would go beyond just analyzing emotional content. This
tool would gauge the overall persuasiveness of a given message. Such a tool could have
tremendous applications in advertising, political speech writing, and many other contexts.
