Benefits to Consumers

Many new language reference products based on connotative meaning will flow from the application of Connotative Intelligence™ technology. These new products will benefit writers and students of writing in many ways. New connotative language reference products will:

Provide users with connotative meanings in dictionaries—for the first time ever. Standard dictionaries provide only half the meaning of a word—the denotative meaning. Connotative dictionaries will provide both the denotative meaning and the other half of the meaning as well—the connotative or emotional meaning.
Provide users with connotative synonyms, or "connonyms"—for the first time ever. Standard thesauruses list synonyms, words collected together according to their shared denotative or intellectual meaning. Connotative thesauruses will list "connotative synonyms" or connonyms, words collected together according to their shared connotative or emotional meanings—even though their literal meanings have nothing in common. As building blocks of similes, metaphors and other figures of speech, connotative synonyms spell the difference between ordinary writing and exceptional prose and poetry.
Provide users with improved language translation. Connotative Intelligence Technology will enable translation software to pick the closest and best translation by matching both the denotative meaning and the synonym with the closest connotative meaning in the target language.
Enable users to check and analyze the emotional impact of a whole piece of writing, and to efficiently revise it before it reaches its target audience—for the first time ever. This will put the user in complete control over the emotional slant or tone of any piece of writing.
