Here in
America you could sell a million copies from TV publicity alone. Women with talk shows
like Oprah and Rosie O'Donnell would go nuts for this. Its right up their alley.
I think a
lot of wives will give this reference to their husbands for birthdays or anniversaries,
maybe a few husbands the other way around. I know my wife would love this. (So would I!)
This has
huge implications for the "battle of the sexes" genre of self-help books for
couples, singles, etc.
This will
help put to rest the notion that men and women feel the same way about most things.
What an
excellent well needed resource for any writer who wants to catch the attention of a wide
or specific audience!!
Woo hoo!!
When this comes out the sparks will fly.
This one
product may prove more immediately marketable with the masses due to its mental triggers
or seeming similarity to the popular "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus"
books. As an introductory special, you might consider adding this as a bonus.
I can't
imagine how you're doing this, but I'll rush down to the store as soon as I hear it's for
sale!
I can see
this in the pop psychology section of Barnes & Noble, where emotionally hurt people
shop to find cures. Sounds cynical but I don't mean it to be - I think this tool will
really help people to understand male-female misunderstandings.
Print
would be the best medium, probably, because this would be something you could carry with
you and show your friends or read, impromptu.
Truly
original, this is one I would get for sure.
This would
be especially helpful to me as I am writing a novel with a male character and anything
that will help a female writer convey the male perspective would be most useful in
creating a believable character and story.
Very good
idea! This could be extended to differentiate between a range of target audiences.
When you
add another language to the mix, like English/Spanish, plus the he-and-she angle, the
translations could get very very interesting.
I think
this would be very useful to married people.
It would
be an interesting research tool to find out how 'feminine' and 'masculine' some cultures
are, and whether any manage to have people who combine both ways of thinking. In my
research, the more disadvantaged a social group, the more 'masculine'.
Way cool.
It would
be good if alternative words were provided, so that for example, a man using these words
to a woman or female audience could speak or write appropriately.
Could be
very useful when writing for a gender-based demographic; also helpful, I would think, for
understanding some relationship difficulties.
This
should be part of all dictionaries or thesauruses.
This is
the best one so far!
I can see
how youve opened up a new realm of meaning here, and so many ways of presenting the
emotional side of language. So far, this one is the most interesting to me, the one
Id definitely want to have.
When &
where can I get it?
Some
people still think there's no difference between how men and women think and feel about
the same issues, but there is, and this tool will help show the distinction. It's about
time.
We can all
use this!
This would
make a perfect wedding gift or anniversary gift!
You will
get a lot of disapproval for a reference like this one, but not from me. Id buy it
and so would most of my women friends.
I'd love
to get this for my husband for Christmas.
I also
would consider purchasing a CD-Rom
I can see
where you could get into hot water with some people about a dictionary showing the
differences between women & men. I'd buy it though!
THIS WOULD
BE PHENOMENAL
Package
them all together electronically. The package would be interesting. For certain writing
applications, He Meant/She Meant could be really useful.
I can see
a lot of uses for something like this!
Are we
dealing with an exercise in political correctness in this situation?
Anti-feminists
will hate this, maybe some feminists too. I will buy one as soon as it comes out
I'd no
doubt buy it, but not specifically as a reference tool, more out of interest
Controversial,
but really interesting!
This I
think would help when writing characters of the opposite sex.
Gendernary?
I think
"She Meant/He Meant Connotative Dictionary" is the best name.
This would
be very useful for presenting material that would immediately gel with the audience
The way
the genders express emotions aloud or on paper is very different most of the time. This
type of dictionary would be quite useful not only to express your own genders
feeling, but to have an understanding of the others feelings at the same time.
Good!
I would
like to have one.
It'll help
non-writers write less-horrible love poetry.
This might
become more & more useless as time goes on? Are we not merging a little more as far as
he/she meaning goes? Either way, I find the idea fascinating!
Go for it!
Wow!!
fascinating, especially the "power" differences.
Fantastic
I think
every man and woman would want to buy it,.. one of the biggest problems today is trying to
understand the hidden meanings behind what the opposite sex means.
I
sometimes read the dictionary (as in not "use," but "read"). I would
consider reading this.
Everyone
should have their own copy
I think it
is important to differentiate the range of reactions that would enable a writer to target
a certain type of reader.
Although
realizing that men and women think differently and react differently to the same
situation, I never considered how I could know what men thought.
Though not
my field, psychologists and marriage counselors may find this useful to either themselves
or something for their clients. Gender communications, too.
It would
be a very useful tool starting even at the elementary school level, where children
sometimes have a difficult time expressing themselves.
